The importance of kids having enough to eat cannot be overstated. Nutrition affects both the physical and mental development of growing bodies and minds. Food insecurity endangers a big segment of our society. For many students, the food they receive at school is their sole reliable source of nutrition.

Winston Foodservice is a key supporter of student nutrition. That’s why for over a decade, we’ve partnered with the School Nutrition Foundation, to promote and enhance student nutrition. Our primary support is underwriting the Winston Equipment Grant.

Each year, Winston donates equipment (worth up to $50,000) to a deserving school district. To be fully transparent, Winston is not involved in selecting the grant recipient. Applications are submitted to, and selected by, the SNF.

The recipient of the 2020 Winston Equipment Grant is Beaumont Independent School District, in Beaumont, Texas. Tiffany Eckenrod, Director of Child Nutrition for Beaumont ISD, submitted a powerful video detailing the challenges her team faces in feeding their students. She plans to use the awarded grant to replace broken or obsolete equipment, with the goal to increase the quality and quantity of food the Beaumont team prepares for their students.

Beaumont ISD is the latest in a long line of schools who have received the Winston Equipment Grant. Take a look at some of the other schools who have benefited from the SNF/Winston partnership. It’s our honor to be an active proponent in student nutrition.
